Muuuuust Resist. Musssst Re-siiiiist

I think I figured out that my wee shopping problem is exacerbated by the holidays. Everywhere I go I see thingies that I must have and I don't know why. Well, no, that's not true, I know why. I want to get more stuff to decorate the place for the holidays. I just don't need any more stuff. But that's hardly a deterrent any longer.

I can't help it. I like making the place look festive, whether it's Halloween, Thanksgiving, Christmas, hell I'd even decorate for Arbor Day if I found stuff I liked enough. But then there's the whole, sticking to my budget thing. *shake my fist vigorously at it* And the whole not having enough space to go as big as I want since we're in an apartment. But mostly the issue is the money situation. When I was working I'd usually allow for about $100 in random spending per paycheck. This was for anything outside of bills and groceries. Sadly, that is now out the window.

The bane of my financial existence, aka HomeGoods, however, keeps putting new stuff out and it just keeps getting cuter. Damn it! Those bastards just keep putting stuff on sale. And I'm fairly certain they have subliminal messages playing though their speaker systems. Luckily, I've been able to avoid the place for the most part. I did have a hell of a time today, though. I had to pick up a few things for the trip and it honestly took every last ounce of self control to keep extra things from leaping into my cart. Sigh... I made it though.

I definitely need to get a job. Perhaps that way I could actually get a thing or two and not feel like I'm wrecking my budget.

I've never been to a Home Goods, but I always hear good things about them. I have the hardest time sticking to my budget when I am tempted, I think that is why I avoid my week spots.

Last week I made my first trek to the mall in... maybe 6 months? THAT was the fastest $420 in my life... but to my defense $150 was Mom's b'day present and $20 for fixing shoes.

Siiigh. Okay, I'm glad to know I'm not the only one who's found themselves in this situation. And yes, avoid Homegoods! For the love of all that's holy stay away from there.
